Q. Do you offer benefits?

A. We offer a competitive PPO healthcare plan that includes medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage.  Benefits begin the first of the month following 30 days of hire.

Q. How long is orientation and is it paid?

A. Our on-boarding process is a three day paid event. It is held in our offices in Tacoma, WA, Fontana, CA, Dallas, TX, or Lebanon, TN. Transportation is provided as well as hotel accommodations and some meals. Drivers receive $225 for successfully completing orientation.

Q. What is your stance on chaining?

A. Drivers are expected to chain if roads are open and it is safe to do so. Please always check with the DOT for road conditions if you have questions or concerns.

Q. Where will I park my truck?

A. Drivers park their vehicles at a yard for all off-duty time within 50 miles of a company facility. If a yard is not available or if they are 51 miles from a company facility they can be approved to park at their house if they are in a good freight lane. Subject to shifts in freight.

Q. Can I take a passenger with me?

A. Yes, we have a rider policy that allows you to get permission to have a rider with you on the truck. We charge a small fee to cover the costs of an insurance policy that is provided to protect the rider.

Q. What’s your policy on per-diem?

A. Interstate gives driver a choice on the way they wish to be paid. We offer Per Diem, as well as the option to opt out of Per Diem.

Q. How long will I be out on the road?

A. Interstate offers drivers 8 different home time options to meet the demands of their lives. Allowing you to select the running area and home time that you prefer is just one of the ways we address your needs.

Q. Are your trucks governed?

A. Our trucks are governed to run at 63 mph.

Q. Do you have a dress code?

A. No, we do not have a dress code other than footwear. We do have a safety footwear policy that applies to drivers, shop staff and others performing safety sensitive work. Beyond that we just remind drivers that they are the face of our company in our customers’ eyes. We expect all of our associates to look neat, clean and professional.

Q. Do you allow split-logging?

A. No. DOT regulations require a consecutive 10-hour break.

Q. Will I receive layover pay?

A. Yes, we pay layover, breakdown and detention pay for drivers when applicable.

Q. Are you a forced dispatch company?

A. Interstate operates under a cooperative dispatch system. At times we need our drivers to be willing to help with undesirable lanes to service our customers.  At Interstate, we choose to work as a team for the greater good of our company, customers and associates.

Q. Can I have a Pet?

A. Yes, we are a Pet Friendly Carrier. We allow a max of 2 pets in a truck. You will sign a Pet Agreement prior to having the Pet(s) on the truck. We do have space at our yards for your four-legged passengers to stay while you are inside completing business, rather than leaving them in the truck. We do have restrictions on the pets that are allowed, please ask a recruiter for details.
