Safety First

Safety First

At Interstate, safety is more than a goal; safety comes first. Safety First means that we make sure that our driving associates go home to their families uninjured and that our customers’ freight is delivered undamaged. Safety First means that we expect Interstate drivers to operate their trucks as if their own family is in the next car. Safety First means that we build safety into our associate selection process, their on-boarding and the continuing training they receive. We also build safety into how we choose, maintain and fix our fleet of equipment.

Our Safety initiatives include:

  • Collision-avoidance technology installed on our fleet from leading technology providers Meritor/Wabco and Bendix
  • Great West’s Value Driven Driving and Value Driven Life training
  • University of Oregon’s driver wellness program, SHIFT
  • Hair-follicle drug testing – more effective than the DOT requirements
  • Safety footwear reimbursement program

Our commitment to Safety starts with our President and CEO, Marc Rogers:

“Interstate driving associates are going to be in an organization that focuses on safety so they come home to their family each and every time; that’s most important to me – making sure they are safe out there on the road.”
